Religious Education
Subject Overview
At Hill Avenue, Religious Education plays a significant role in developing and promoting pupil’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Our curriculum empowers our children to understand the diverse beliefs, religious practises and worldviews that guide their own personal development and prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life in Modern Britain.
Our children are encouraged to explore, be curious and reflect on a wide range of religious beliefs and practices and some of the most fundamental questions asked by people. We enable children to develop a secure knowledge not only of Christianity but also of other world religions, especially those that are the main faiths of children within our school and local community. Our children develop an understanding of religious traditions and learn to how to respect, appreciate and celebrate individualism and cultural differences in society. This is enhanced by exposure to sacred text and artefacts, school visits to places of worship and encounters with religious leaders.

Our Religious Education curriculum combined with our school values equips our children with the knowledge and skills needs to respectful, empathetic and considerate to themselves and the community in which they live.
