Home learning
As a school, we have tried to create a homework system that takes into consideration the different points of view that were raised in the PCAF findings.
Some families liked the online work but some liked the paper version. Some liked written homework and some liked more practical / discussions with the children. Some liked having homework that recapped on the week and some liked homework showing what was coming up.
Due to the mixture of responses, as a school we have taken all points raised and created a system that works as a hybrid of approaches to best suit your child and family needs, while still ensuring children make strong progress.
Please see below for the Home Learning offer:
-
Every week, children will have one Maths and English task, spellings and read twice.
-
All children will have a homework book with the weekly homework stuck in.
-
Spelling tests will take place in the homework book so you can see how the children’s results.
-
Some homework will be based in the book and some online to get a balance to reduce screen time at home.
-
Some homework will be a ‘Rewind’ which will be based on the learning children have already completed in class and some will be identified as ‘Fast-forward’ to prepare children for future learning.
-
Over the half-term, there will be additional opportunities to take part in, ‘Big Think’ where we will provide some questions for you to discuss with your children – without the need to write.
-
Also, over the half-term, there will an opportunity to create something practical and share in the school gallery.
